For Marination of chicken

Chicken- 500 gram
Cumin powder- 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
Curd- 1 tsp
Lemon juice- 1 tsp
Vinegar- 1 tsp
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Salt- 1tsp
Chopped onion- 2 tsp

For making Gravy

Butter-5 tsp
Tomatoes-6 pcs
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Green chilli-1
Cumin Powder-1 tsp,
Water-1/2 Cup
Salt-1 tsp
Chopped Ginger-1 tsp
Sugar-1/2 tsp
Cream-3 tsp


Marinate the chicken

In a big bowl take chicken along with ginger-garlic paste, curd, lemon juice, vinegar, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt and chopped onion and mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
Keep aside for 2 hours for marination of chicken

Make the gravy

In a hot pan take butter and 1 tsp red chilli powder and saute two minutes.
Now add coriander powder, cumin powder and chopped ginger to it and saute well.
Add little water,tomato, sugar, salt, green chilli to the pan and saute well.

Cook the chicken

Now in another hot pan take butter and spread it all along the sides of the pan.
Add the chicken that we have marinated before; into the pan and saute the chicken with the butter and cover the pan to let the chicken cook.
When the chicken has turned golden brown and the butter has subsided add the cooked tomato gravy to the chicken and mix well.
Cover the pan again and let it cook for a while.
Now remove the lid, add cream to the gravy, mix well and your Amritsari chicken is ready to serve


Add butter, coriander leaves , green chillies on top and serve hot. You can serve this Amritsari chicken masala with naan, paratha or even with cooked rice.
