Chicken tikka is a traditional Punjabi dried chicken recipe usually served as a starter or snack. Stringing pieces of chickens with onion, tomato, green capsicum in wooden skewers is the traditional way of making chicken tikka.

Garlic, Kasoori methi
Boneless chicken pieces- 250 gms
Yogurt- 1 cup (beaten)
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
Kasoori methi- 1/4 tsp
Salt – to taste
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Garam masala powder- 1/4 tsp
Lemon extract- 1 tbsp
Green capsicum- 1 (cut into cubes)
Oil- 1 tsp
Red food color- 1/4 tsp
Onions- 2 (cut into cubes)
Tomatoes- 2 (deseeded and cut into cubes)
Oil- As required (for shallow frying)
Chopped coriander leaves
Take beaten yogurt, salt (according to taste), red chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, garam masala powder in a bowl
Add kasoori methi, lemon extract, 1tsp oil and 1-2 pinch of food color.
Mix all the ingredients well so that no lumps remain in the batter.
Now add the boneless chicken pieces into it and mix well.
Add the onion cubes, green capsicum cubes, diced tomatoes and mix all the ingredients well.
Cover the bowl with a lid and left it for marinate in refrigerator. for at least 45 minutes to 1 hour.
After marination period, take the chicken marinade out.
Take wooden skewers or kabab sticks and soak the sticks for about 30 minutes in water before using to avoid burning.
In each stick, insert chicken, tomato, onion and green capsicum.
Continue stringing the rest of the chicken sticks in the same pattern.
Now Take a non stick pan and add 2 tbsp oil.
Place the chicken sticks on the pan when the oil is hot.
Cook on medium flame for 8-10 minutes.
Turn the chicken tikka skewers and cook the other side too for 8-10 minutes.
Now lower the flame from medium to low and cook each side for 4-5 minutes until both side of the chicken is cooked well.
