Continental Apple Cake

Continental cakes have a richer, closer texture than butter cakes, sponge cakes or quick-mix cakes. Generally rich butter-cream fillings or different types of liqueurs, chocolate or coffee are used In Continental cakes for flavourings. Nuts and fruit are used as decorations, and frequently the cake is chilled before serving.

Ingredients


Flour-150 gm
Baking powder-2 tsp
Butter butter- 50 gm
Caster sugar- 150 gm
Eggs- 2
Raisins- 10-12 pcs
milk- 100 ml

For topping

3 apples- peeled, cored & sliced
Caster sugar- 2 Tbsp
Cinnamon powder- 1 tsp

Preparation


Mix flour and baking powder well together.
Add the eggs, milk, butter, Raisins and sugar and beat it to make a smooth batter.
Take a pot where you want to make the cake and brush butter very well every side. Pour the batter in that pot.Brush top with slightly beaten egg white. Place the apple slices on its top. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon.
Now bake at 190 degrees centigrade until the cake turns golden in color and apples are tender. After 30-35 minutes take a tooth-pick and insert into the cake. If it comes out clean, your cake is ready.

Serving


Serve cold with whipped cream
